UAE PASS is the UAE’s national digital identity. Once your account is verified, it can replace separate usernames for many government and private-sector services, let you approve logins from your phone, share official digital documents and digitally sign supported transactions.

What you need to set it up

  • the official UAE PASS app
  • a UAE mobile number and email address you can access
  • your Emirates ID if you are registering as a resident
  • a smartphone that can complete the verification steps

The official UAE PASS site also supports account creation using a GCC ID or passport in eligible cases. This guide focuses on the common new-resident route using Emirates ID.

Step 1: download the official UAE PASS app

Use the official links from UAE PASS or the UAE Government portal rather than a search ad or third-party APK. UAE PASS is the national login used across federal, emirate-level and participating private-sector services.

Step 2: register your account

Enter the requested identity and contact details, then complete the OTP checks sent to your registered phone number and email address. For residents, your Emirates ID is the key identity record used to connect the account to your official details.

Step 3: verify your identity

UAE PASS currently offers digital face verification for eligible users. The UAE Government says facial recognition can complete verification remotely, while UAE PASS still lists physical kiosks as an alternative route when needed. The official site maintains a live kiosk-location map.

If face verification fails repeatedly, do not create multiple accounts. Check that your Emirates ID data and mobile details are correct, then use the official support or kiosk route.

What can you use UAE PASS for?

  • Government logins: including many ICP, municipality, utility and other digital-government services.
  • Digital signatures: sign supported documents and transactions electronically.
  • Official documents: request and share digital versions of supported government documents.
  • Private-sector logins: participating banks, telecom providers and other companies can use UAE PASS authentication.
  • Profile services: review or update supported personal and address information.

Why new residents should set it up early

UAE PASS becomes useful almost immediately after residency setup. ICP uses it for many identity and residence services, and other authorities increasingly make it the default authentication method. Our ICP Smart Services guide explains where it fits into residence and Emirates ID tasks.

If your Emirates ID is still being issued, start with our Emirates ID guide. Some UAE PASS functions depend on your identity record being available and verified.

Security habits worth keeping

  • Approve login requests only when you initiated them.
  • Do not share OTPs, PINs or authentication prompts with callers.
  • Check the service name before approving a UAE PASS request.
  • Use the official recovery flow if you change or lose your phone.
  • Keep your mobile number and email current.

Five setup mistakes to avoid

  1. Downloading an unofficial app.
  2. Using a phone number you will soon lose access to.
  3. Creating duplicate accounts after a verification error.
  4. Approving login prompts you did not start.
  5. Assuming every service supports the same UAE PASS features. Some use login only; others support signing or document sharing.
